Road trippin'!

The weekend that's passed was spent travelling the Great Ocean Road with my parents. My favourite people and one of my favourite places.

Indigo is generally a good traveller, especially if there is a dummy (pacifier) in her mouth, she is soon to drift off. When she dropped her dummy I caught her improvising! Tasty...I hope?

We stopped in at Lorne for a much needed cuppa and a look around. It had been a quite a few years since my parents last visited this coastal town. It has been hugely developed with a resort and largely directed at tourists, but nothing can change the natural beauty that surrounds it.

Enjoying the froth off Grandpa's Cappuccino.

The historical Lorne Theatre.

Although there was an abundance of play equipment at the park, Indigo just waned to play in dirt...and eat some dirt.

Meeting new friends.

Can you see the surfer?

We spent some time on the beach...

We enjoyed the sand between our toes...

And we talked to the Seagulls.

We dropped in for dinner at the Lorne Hotel over looking the town and ocean. I had a delicious piece of grilled Salmon. (Can't believe I forgot to photograph it.) We then headed back to Torquay where we would spend our Sunday.

We stayed at the local motel in Torquay.

And we spent our Sunday at the Torquay Cowrie Market.

We listened to local acoustic music...

Did some shopping...

And took in the view!

I love spending quality time with my family. I love most, watching my parents enjoy their Granddaughter so much!
Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend too! x

Sensationally Sixty!

Yesterday was my Mum's 60th Birthday.

"Happy Birthday Mum"

60 is great. "Your only as old as you feel!"
60 is a year and a bit of being a Grandma for the first time.
60 is becoming slightly forgetful HAHA!
60 is always being there for your family when they need you.
60 is always putting your family first, before yourself.
60 is learning the internet and facebook :)
60 is beautiful!

We spent the day at my Grandparents house and strolled down after the morning showers to the local RSL for lunch. The rain created a very muggy day as it was still 29 degrees. We have been experiencing at bit of a heat wave in Melbourne the past few days, with highs of 30 degrees plus.

The new sculptures outside the RSL were a talking point. I thought they were quite marvellous, using metal parts and pieces to form human figures. The much older generation did not approve so much.

I made my Mum a birthday cheesecake (Baileys- her favourite) topped with a chocolate birds nest and Blue wren candle (Mum's favourite bird).

We spent some time exploring MaMa and PaPa's garden. I spent a lot of my youth in this backyard. Not much has changed over the many years, apart for a lot less plants as they are now in their 80's and it all becomes to much to look after.

My Grandfather (PaPa) has propergated all these Jade plants from cuttings from his gigantic Jade tree in his backyard. It would have to be 60 years old too...as it was planted when my Grandparents built their house just a couple of years before my Mum was born. When I say it's massive...it's MASSIVE. Check it out in the next photo!

If Jade is the plant of good luck and prosperity then my Grandparents must be the luckiest people I know. If fact when I take a moment and think about it they are very lucky people.
They are both 86, both fit, Grandma, surviver of breast cancer as they caught it very early (luckily), a loving long lasting marriage and a happy family!

Grandma's Passionfruit vine. We always go home with a container full to eat with vanilla ice cream....yummo!

Naughty Possums!

This is where my love of terracotta pots (and the colour terracotta) comes from, I am sure.

Behind the passion vine...

This is the rose plant that we gave Indigo's Grandparents and Great Grandparents on her Naming Day. It was presented to them as a gift of appreciation for all that they have done for us and to signify their relationship with Indigo. We asked them to love, nurture, and watch this rose plant grow as they will with Indigo. As some of Indigo's elders live long distant and interstate I thought this would a nice daily reminder of Indigo and how much their relationship with her means to us. (Hope they are all growing as well as MaMa's and PaPa's!)

Oh, and did I mention...Our Indigo is WALKING!!!!
Yes! She is finally walking on her own accord.
WATCH OUT WORLD!!!

She is resembling a bit of a drunken sailor at the moment but I am sure her balance will improve as the days go on. (Plus she wasn't too keen on the texture of the grass beneath her feet.) She took her very 3 first steps towards me last Friday but now she is up and stumbling about on her own. She is still using crawling as her main mode of gettin' around but I am sure that will change soon enough as well. Everyone has been commenting that I will be thankful that she has taken her time in walking as life changes completely "again"...there will be no keeping up with her now. I am pretty sure she will become TWO handfuls now!
Watching her walk away from me, I sit and realise that my baby girl is no longer a "baby". She is really growing up before my eyes. (Tear tear)
