Monday was the Labour Day long weekend here in Melbourne. We decided to head into the city to experience a bit of Moomba and The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Moomba is Australia's largest free community festival and one of the longest running festivals in Australia. It is held annually and is celebrated during the Labour Day long weekend (over four days, from Friday to the second Monday in March), and has been celebrated since 1955.
The official translation for "Moomba" is "lets get together and celebrate".
There are a few things that Moomba is known for. The Labour Day parade with floats, the carnival, the waterskiing competition, the birdman rally http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomba#Birdman_rally,
